Unlike wallets that fragment your experience across separate apps, Lace consolidates asset management, staking, dApp connectivity, and hardware wallet signing into one streamlined interface. Your private keys remain on your device. Lace never has access to your funds, and every transaction must be explicitly approved by you before broadcast. *** ## Availability and Installation™ ### Supported Browsers Lace is available as a browser extension for **Google Chrome**, **Microsoft Edge**, and **Mozilla Firefox** . The Firefox release (Lace 1.22.1) brought full feature parity with the Chrome version, including staking, multi-staking, and dApp connectivity . ### Official Download Source **Critical:** The only official source for Lace is [**https://www.lace.io/**](https://www.lace.io/). Install the extension exclusively from the link on that site—never from search advertisements, forum posts, or third-party mirrors. Phishing sites impersonating Lace are a known risk . For Chrome users, the extension is also available directly through the Chrome Web Store. After installation, pin the Lace icon to your toolbar for quick access. ### Mobile Availability Lace also offers mobile applications for **iOS** (App Store) and **Android** (Google Play), enabling portfolio tracking and transaction signing on the go . *** ## Initial Setup™ ### Step 1: Create or Restore a Wallet Open the Lace extension and choose one of two paths: * **Create a new wallet** — generates a fresh seed phrase * **Restore an existing wallet** — imports via recovery phrase Lace supports 12, 15, and 24-word seed phrases . ### Step 2: Set a Password Choose a strong password to encrypt your local wallet data. **Lace does not store or recover this password.** If you forget it, you must reinstall the extension and restore your wallet using your seed phrase. ### Step 3: Back Up Your Seed Phrase Write your seed phrase on paper and store it offline in a secure location. Never photograph it, store it digitally, or share it with anyone. Anyone with your seed phrase has complete control over your assets. *** ## Core Features™ ### Multi-Chain Asset Management Lace 2.0 introduced unified support for **Cardano, Bitcoin, and Midnight** in a single wallet interface . Your Cardano assets (ADA and native tokens), Bitcoin (BTC), and Midnight assets (NIGHT and DUST) are all visible and manageable from one dashboard. For Midnight, Lace supports both **shielded and unshielded addresses**, giving you control over transaction privacy. Shielded transactions use zero-knowledge technology to keep balances and transaction details private, while unshielded transactions remain publicly visible on-chain . ### Staking and Multi-Staking Lace offers full staking functionality for Cardano ADA: * **Single-pool delegation** — delegate your entire stake to one pool * **Multi-staking (beta)** — delegate to up to **ten stake pools simultaneously**, with adjustable ratios for each pool Staking rewards are distributed automatically at the end of each delegation cycle, which consists of four epochs (each epoch lasts five days). Expect to receive your first rewards **16–20 days** after initial delegation . Your ADA remains in your wallet while staked—it is never locked. You can send, receive, or redelegate at any time. **Note:** Wallets with over 80 UTXO sets cannot use multi-staking due to Cardano's maximum transaction size limitations . ### Hardware Wallet Support™ Lace supports multiple hardware wallets for enhanced security: | Device | Supported Features | | - | - | | **Ledger** (Nano X, Nano S, Nano S Plus) | Cardano and Bitcoin signing, multi-staking | | **Trezor** (firmware 2.6.4+) | Cardano and Bitcoin signing, multi-staking | | **SeedSigner** | Air-gapped signing for ADA and BTC via animated QR codes | The SeedSigner integration makes Lace the first Cardano wallet to support this fully open-source, air-gapped signing device built from off-the-shelf components. Transactions are signed without ever connecting the signing device to your computer . For Ledger and Trezor users, Bitcoin accounts can be imported directly and transactions signed on-device, all within the Lace interface . ### dApp Connectivity™ Lace connects to decentralized applications across supported networks. Transaction signing occurs within the extension, with clear prompts showing what each transaction will do before you approve it. For Midnight developers, Lace exposes the `window.midnight` API for dApp integration, though some methods (such as transaction history) may have limitations in current versions . *** ## Midnight Network Integration™ Midnight is a privacy-focused blockchain that uses **selective disclosure**—allowing users to choose what transaction details are publicly visible and what remains private. Lace integrates Midnight mainnet directly, with no separate download required . ### Key Midnight Concepts in Lace * **NIGHT** — the native unshielded token, used for governance and transparency-focused activities * **DUST** — the resource that powers privacy-preserving transactions on Midnight, generated by holding NIGHT * **Shielded addresses** — hide balances and transaction details using zero-knowledge proofs * **Unshielded addresses** — behave like standard public blockchain addresses You can manage both address types within Lace and generate DUST directly from the wallet interface. *** ## Important Limitations™ **Password recovery is impossible.** Lace does not store your password. If you lose it, the only recovery path is reinstalling and restoring from your seed phrase. If both password and seed phrase are lost, funds are permanently inaccessible. **Hot wallet risk.** As a browser extension, Lace runs on your computer and is vulnerable to malware, phishing, and malicious extensions.
